EARLY SIGNS OF POSSIBLE DYSLEXIA

Pay attention if the child:

  • Begins to say his first words after a year and a half of age.

  • Has difficulty learning the names of letters and remembering their sounds.

  • Omits or substitutes the end of a word when reading and writing.

  • Shows difficulty recognizing and individualizing sounds in words.

  • Has difficulty recognizing and reproducing rhymes.

  • Replaces words in reading.

  • Has difficulty learning new words.

  • Pronounces words incorrectly. For example, say “datón” instead of “mouse”.

  • Avoids naming familiar objects at first glance, frequently saying “that” or “this” instead of naming what you want to say.

  • Shows difficulty remembering how to spell words and applying spelling rules when writing.
